Institute of Leadership Management
As I am sure you are aware the Institute of Leadership and Management (formerly NEBS) are launching a new suite of Management Qualification from September 2007.
Greenhouse Training is able to offer all ILM qualifications at Level 3, 4 and 5, but I have attached a recommended programme at each level, plus a document which will help you decide which level is the appropriate for your management team.
Please be aware that we are happy to change the units to meet your needs, and I have attached all the modules at each level.

Which Qualification is at the right level?
Level 3
A first line manager
- May engage in some of the tasks performed by their follow team members, but this is not their primary function
- Are practising managers who engage more extensively in managerial tasks in which other team members do not engage
- Have a wider span of control, responsibility, authority or power and a greater dregee of autonomy than a team leader
- Have the make decsions which have resource implications
- Have to initiate actions in relation to the employment of others
- Have to operate with less supervision and control by others
- Plan work looking several weeks or months ahead
- Have a greater knowledge then team leaders of specific requirements of customers or suppliers
- May deal with similar problems as ream leasders but require superior technical knowledge and more subjective judgements that demands understanding of relationshsips between people working together
Level 4 and Level 5
A middle manager
- Can be distinguished from the First line manager by their wider span of control
- They will have a number of people reporting into them
- Will be responsibly for allocating resources with some autonomy within defined boundaries
- They may be budget holders with limited ability to vire funds between budget headings
- They will be responsible for recvruitin, promoting and displining people
- Involvced in direct negotiation with internal and external customers
- They may lead some projects designed to change products, services, resources or systems
- They will have clearly defined limits on their freedom to act or take decisions, and are expected to report regularly on their performance
